- Add cat fur dubbing to tying thread, and build up a moderate body, working forward to stop 1/4 shank length from eye.
- Tie in red cock hackle. make 2 turns and then begin to palmer back down shank.
- Use copper tinsel to make a tag with two snug fitting turns. Then wind forward trapping the palmered hackle. Tie off tinsel at thorax.
- Tie in blue hackle infront of red hackle. Make two winds merging with the red hackle , and then two more winds in front, immediately behind the eye. Tie off.
- Use thread to make a small head, and cement with clear varnish.
Fishing:
Fish as an imitation of any medium sized dun, but especially the Iron Blue dun.
Buoyancy works well in riffles and faster water especially on moorland streams in early season. Smaller versions (#16) fish well in late evening in high summer on quieter reaches.
