Tier's Comments: - Also known as St Mark's Fly because of it's early appearance in swarms at the end of April around St Mark's Day. The emergence lasts at least a couple of weeks. These are the large juicy looking black flies which seem to hang about languidly with long dangling legs, or cover bushes in strong breezes. Very easy to catch, and the trout take their fill for several days.
