CFFC 13TH WINTER FLY SWAP

CDC and Elk

Tied by Mike Weaver

Materials
CDC and Elk fly pattern
Hook:
Manufacturer:  Kamasan B100.
Size:  #16 (duns), #14 (sedges).
Thread
Pale 8/0.
Body:
Dubbed natural or synthetic fur, wound well round bend of hook. Various olive shades for duns, grey/brown/olive shades for sedges.
Wing:
Natural deer hair, fairly short.
Hackle:
CDC tied in at tip, wound and then pushed back to lie over body to about twice length of hook shank.

Tier's Comments:     -    This is a variation on a Hans Weilenmann pattern. It works well for both duns and sedges - just change the body colour. The rather ragged appearance of this fly probably contributes to its effectiveness.
