Tier's Comments:     -
Fix hook in vice, cover shank to opposite barb with thread and lock in 2 or 3 Pheasant tail fibres.
Spin dubbing onto thread in appropriate colour (fairly tightly) and wind body back up the hook shank to approximately 1/3 of the way from the eye.
Tie in 2 or 3 peacock herls on top of the body immediately followed by the hackle feather.
Continue dubbing but stop short of the eye.
Wind hackle over the dubbing (around 3 turns) secure and remove balance.
Using a needle or similar, part the hackle directly over the top of the body and draw the peacock herls between the divided hackle and secure in place. (This holds the division in the hackle and forms the "footprint" of the fly on the water)
Tie off the herls and form a neat head and cast of with your preferred whip finish.
Apply a small drop of varnish to the head and leave to dry.

This can be adapted to any variation in colour and an optional antron wing can also be added underneath the shank. If this is to be included then you may want to turn the fly 180degrees in the vice to aid positioning and tying. I do not include it in this tying as it does not influence the "footprint" of the fly. When using the fly it should fish hook point upwards with the tail and hackle supporting the rest of the hook.
