CREDITON FLY FISHING CLUB
We are a small-stream, fly fishing club based in Crediton, a small market town in Devon located between Dartmoor and Exmoor and only 7 miles from Exeter and Tiverton, with their excellent road and rail links.
Crediton Fly Fishing Club, founded in the 1960s, has wild brown trout fishing on seven beautiful rain-fed rivers. These support abundant fly life (including mayfly and many terrestials), offering superb opportunities to fish the dry fly for brown trout as well as the occasional sea trout and salmon, plus winter grayling.
Because of our abundant trout population, we do not need to stock our rivers. We are now one of the very few angling clubs in the South West that can offer true wild brown trout fishing.
Our home waters are six miles of the Creedy, Yeo and Culvery near Crediton. We also fish three miles of the Culm near Tiverton, which has produced excellent brown trout to 19 inches. The club leases 1.5 miles of the Taw, providing fine sport for wild brown trout and some sea trout. Salmon are also present. We have recently acquired a pretty stretch of the nearby Lapford Yeo which is proving to be a good brown trout water.
Membership is limited to 100, but most seasons we have vacancies. Visitor tickets are strictly limited. They provide temporary membership and fishing on most of our streams for one day at a cost of £15 or a 5 day period (Monday to Friday inclusive) for £30. We also permit visitors to purchase a week-end ticket (Sat/Sun) also for £30.
Prospective members who wish to try out the water first can discount a visitor fee from their initial membership subscription if they join in the same season. It is best to e-mail the Membership Secretary first to check availability and for information about the club and type of fishing etc. A link to the on-line Membership Application is on the Membership page.
The Club holds regular events including fly tying evenings, a casting clinic and fishing trips. There is a tackle shop in Crediton which can provide tackle, day tickets and contacts for professional local guides.
